Spring

SPRING

Semana Santa

Andalusia celebrates Easter’s Holy Week as a week of pure emotion. The music of the bands, the silence as a brotherhood passes and the skill of the float bearers as they carry hundreds of religious icons in solemn procession throughout the city, create an indescribably wonderful setting for the re-enactment of the passion of the Christ.

Seville’s Feria de Abril

The April Fair is Seville’s main festival. Gypsy dresses, horses and Manzanilla sherry are the main ingredients of the fair, ablaze with paper lanterns where for a whole week, Seville parties to the sound of the Sevillanas music.

Jerez’ Feria de Caballos
Every year, in the first week of May, Jerez holds its Horse Fair, a spectacular equestrian event, that takes place in the Gonzalez Hontoria Park. Some of the world's finest horses and riders compete in endurance trials, coach driving, "pursuit and tumble" and dressage competitions.

Summer

SUMMER

Summer is the ideal season for enjoying the balmy Andalusian nights when the high temperatures during the day invite us to have a typical Spanish siesta. In the evening café tables jostle in every quarter, every street. Strolling through the historical quarters of Seville and admiring the view of the Alcazares’ monumental buildings, the fragrance of its gardens and the sound of music combine to produce a sublime evening.

Autumn

AUTUMN

Culture plays an important role at this time of year, from the Flamenco Biennial, the most important festival in the world dedicated to this art form to the Maestranza Theatre’s Opera. Two not to be missed events in Seville that attract lovers of cante jondo and classical music from around the world.

Winter

WINTER

Winter in Andalusia is like spring in more northern European countries. People stroll in the streets where cafés still have their terraces and tables open for business, enabling customers to enjoy the pleasant winter sun while sipping their coffee. The smell of roast chestnuts announces the time of Christmas with bell ringers, carol singers and stalls that delight all who enjoy creating their own nativity scenes. New Year’s Eve and January 5 th are other dates that are a must in the calendar. The cavalcade of the Three Kings is the prelude to the most magic of nights for children, a night when adults wish that they too were children.
